MAVCOM Lifts Moratorium on New Applications for Ground Handling Licences
The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) will lift its moratorium on new applications for Ground Handling Licences (GHL) with effect from 1 June 2019. The moratorium was imposed on 25 April 2016 as part of the Commission’s rationalisation exercise of the ground handling industry. The objective of this exercise was to ascertain legitimate Ground Handlers and facilitate a stronger Ground Handling sector in Malaysia.
MAVCOM had identified at the outset of this rationalisation exercise a total of 64 entities providing or purporting to provide ground handling services. Each were given the opportunity to register with MAVCOM and apply for a GHL as required by the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015.
The complete list of approved Ground Handlers can be found here.
Those who wish to apply for a GHL, the application form and list of criteria can be found here.
