MAVCOM confirms resignation of Dr. Nungsari Ahmad Radhi and welcomes appointment of YBhg. Datuk Seri Saripuddin Haji Kasim as Executive Chairman
KUALA LUMPUR, 1 May 2020 – The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM or Commission) confirms that Dr. Nungsari Ahmad Radhi has tendered his resignation as the Executive Chairman of MAVCOM on 10 April 2020, being the day of his 60th birthday. Dr. Nungsari was appointed as the Executive Chairman on 1 July 2018, prior to which he had served as a Commissioner since the Commission’s establishment on 1 March 2016.
Dr. Nungsari was committed to the principle of independence as an economic regulator, true to the letter and spirit of the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015, and was instrumental to the Commission’s various accomplishments over the years. During his tenure as Executive Chairman, the Commission greatly progressed on its regulatory objectives for Malaysia’s aviation industry, and in its efforts towards strengthening MAVCOM as an institution.
The Commissioners, management and staff of MAVCOM wish to record our utmost gratitude to Dr. Nungsari for his integrity, leadership and wisdom throughout his tenure with MAVCOM, and for his services to the aviation industry and country.
The Commission also welcomes the appointment of YBhg. Datuk Seri Saripuddin Haji Kasim as the Executive Chairman of MAVCOM, as announced by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong today. The appointment of YBhg. Datuk Seri Saripuddin by Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd. Yassin, will take effect from 4 May 2020.
YBhg. Datuk Seri Saripuddin was formerly a Commissioner of MAVCOM from 1 March 2016 to 6 January 2019, while serving in his capacity as the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport. He had also served as the Director-General of Legal Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Department, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Human Resources. Prior to his retirement from the Malaysian Civil Service in November 2019, he served as the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Federal Territory. YBhg. Datuk Seri Saripuddin Haji Kasim holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons.) from the University of Malaya, Advanced Diploma in Public Management from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) and a Masters of Business Administration (Corporate Finance) from the University of Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
