MAVCOM Welcomes YM Raja Azmi bin Raja Nazuddin as New COO
KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2020 – The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) would like to announce the appointment of YM Raja Azmi bin Raja Nazuddin as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective 15 September 2020.
The Commission welcomes YM Raja Azmi who brings with him extensive knowledge and experience in the aviation industry as well as the corporate sector. MAVCOM is confident YM Raja Azmi will be able to lead the Commission well in promoting a consumer-focused and resilient civil aviation sector.
YM Raja Azmi will replace Azmir Zain who resigned from his position as MAVCOM’s COO, effective 14 August 2020. Azmir had earlier indicated his intention to leave the Commission to pursue other interests. He had been with the Commission since 1 April 2016.

Azmir was a sterling representation of MAVCOM’s values of integrity, impartiality and professionalism, and was unwavering in his commitment to high standards of governance while ensuring the Commission operated in accordance with the provisions of the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015 [Act 771]. MAVCOM wishes Azmir well for his future endeavours.
YM Raja Azmi was formerly the Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad from 4 January 2019 to 6 January 2020. Prior to that, he was the Group Chief Financial Officer. He has also served in senior management positions at multiple listed as well as unlisted entities. YM Raja Azmi holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bath, UK. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
