U.S. Embassy
On 7 April 2022, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) received a courtesy visit by Mr. Francis Peters, the Commercial Counsellor of the United States (U.S.) Embassy, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the visit, he was accompanied by Ms. Pung Siau Wei, Senior Commercial Specialist of the U.S. Embassy, as well as Ms. Murni Ali, Country Representative of the U.S. Trade Development Agency (USTDA). MAVCOM’s Senior Management team was represented by Yang Mulia Raja Azmi Bin Raja Nazuddin, Chief Operating Officer as well as Mdm. Pushpalatha Subramaniam, Director of Consumer Affairs to welcome the honoured guests.
MAVCOM began the courtesy visit with an in-depth presentation on its roles and functions, the Commission’s structure, and workforce, as well as current and future initiatives. Additionally, MAVCOM provided a live demonstration of its FlySmart Travel Advisory guide which enables air travel consumers to stay up to date on the latest travel requirements prior to their travel with updated information on border restrictions, COVID-19 tests, and vaccination requirements globally, among others.
This was followed by an explanation of the Commercial Office, U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s functions and focus areas pertaining to the civil aviation industry. A discussion and Q&A session took place thereafter, for further understanding and to seek opportunities in strategic collaborations.Â
