Meet the Expert Session at the University College of MAIWP International (UCMI)
On 16 August 2022, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) was represented by Encik Jaffar Derus Ahmad, Director of Aviation Development as a guest speaker on the topic of ‘Introduction to International Air Transportation’ at the University College of MAIWP International (UCMI) City Campus Kuala Lumpur, which is fully owned by The Malaysian Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) under the Prime Minister’s Department.
A total of 30 persons comprising students and senior lecturers of the Bachelor of International Supply Chain Management (BISCM) and Diploma programs came to the ‘Meet the Expert’ session. En. Jaffar presented on many key areas pertaining to international air transportation. The session began with the knowledge sharing of MAVCOM’s role as a regulator overseeing commercial and economic matters within Malaysia’s aviation industry, followed by an explanation of Malaysia’s public service obligation through the Rural Air Services (RAS) within rural areas in East Malaysia, Air Traffic Rights, and Air Service Agreements as well as Freedoms of the Air, amongst others.
The session ended with a question-and-answer session. MAVCOM is grateful for this opportunity to engage young minds and would like to express our sincerest thanks to UCMI for inviting us to participate in this ‘Meet the Expert’ session. MAVCOM also looks forward to supporting the nurturing of new talent for the industry and hopes to participate in more similar engagements in the near future.
